Here is the second testimony in our series…What “more” is doing

Last month we shared with you RUHU’s goal to “do more” in response to the heartbreaking situations children, especially those in under-resourced countries, are experiencing as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was RUHU’s goal to increase their programming and care of the children that they serve through academic coaching and mentorship workshops. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing personal testimonies from children at RUHU that talk about how Covid has affected their lives, and their thoughts about the impact of the coaching opportunities and workshops being provided by RUHU.

At this time, Uganda does not plan to re-open schools until January 2022. Beautiful Response is looking to provide an additional $29,000 to support RUHU as they continue to provide vital resources and education to protect these children from further negative effects. As you read their stories please consider donating to support these needs. Thank you!

Hello, I am Yuriyo, a student of St Mark’s College Namagoma. I am in senior five though I would be in senior six. I am one of the RUHU children staying in the RUHU boys home. We have been in years of danger battling with COVID-19 in our country but we thank God that he has kept the RUHU family healthy and COVID-19 free. It’s true we have faced many challenges in all aspects of life. Academically, some have dropped backwards and some of us had started losing hope but the RUHU family has been there for us to empower us thus giving us hope for tomorrow. COVID-19 has greatly separated us from our friends. RUHU guardians and so many people have died. But now I thank God for the chance he has given us to interact and learn again. We thank God for the workshop and coachings organized for us thus giving us a hope for tomorrow. This workshop/counseling sessions have helped in shaping our characters (character transformation). We have once lost hope, but now we have started changing our mindset positively and accepting that we are truly loved by God and RUHU. We learnt how to manage relationships, deal with anger as youth, as well as, maintaining sanitation and hygiene. I personally don’t know what to give you in return for having loved us this way, you have given us guidance through workshop sessions and coaches. I am on my knees requesting that the workshop and all coachings should be carried on, indeed we still need help. God bless you.
