It is the final month of 2025! I love most things about December. The thing I love least of all is having to work on and worry about our year-end fundraising for Beautiful Response. The emails, the texts, the concern that we won’t hit our targets and that we’ll fall behind before the New Year even begins…not fun.
HOWEVER, I paused and felt tears gathering in my eyes the other day as I was working through a list of names and emails. 2026 will mark 15 years since Beautiful Response was created. And over those 15 years, we’ve had…hundreds, probably thousands of people support our work. Of those thousands, many of you have been with us since the very beginning. Some of you have joined this community of givers in the past year.
What made me stop and reflect was that each name on the spreadsheet was its own story. A couple who met with Sonja and I when we were 22, trying to figure out how to start this thing. Good friends who loved us and loved this work and have given in each stage of their lives. Parents of friends who just wanted us to know they were behind us. Folks who visited RUHU and joined this work because they met the kids for themselves.
It can be stressful having to fundraise in the busiest month of the year. But it really is a privilege to raise money for the kids in Uganda. And it’s a privilege to do it alongside you. Thanks.
