RUHU Trip Day Eight!

DAY EIGHT WAS OUR FINAL DAY!

Wow, this trip flew by so quickly! On our last day, we packed in a final slum outreach, a farewell ceremony at the RUHU Primary School, and the grand opening of the new House of Hope. During slum outreach, we were able to participate in painting a participant’s story with Creative Generations. This young man had been living in a refugee camp prior to ending up in the Bwaise slum. He often talked about wanting to see his home again (the one he had to flee) even though he knew it would no longer be standing. The painting was a picture of what he dreamed his home would still look like.

Next, we attended a special farewell ceremony at the Primary School, where we enjoyed beautiful speeches and songs, and received awards and a Beautiful Response doormat. We also participated in a baptism of our Ugandan names, which left us soaked but with full hearts:)

Our last stop was House of Hope, where we walked with the Primary School students to attend the grand opening. We were privileged to cut the ribbon and officially open the doors to the single mothers, babies, and young children who will call this place home. Here, single mothers can complete their education and receive vocational training while their children are cared for. This will provide them with opportunities that they thought were no longer possible, enabling them to support themselves and their children.

What an amazing trip! Thank you for your support and prayers! I hope you enjoyed seeing and hearing about all the wonderful programs and people we had the privilege to visit. I’m already looking forward to going back:)
