RUHU GIFTED HANDS PROJECT

The Gifted Hands Project continued its commitment in April to empower teenage mothers with practical vocational skills and psychosocial support. The project focuses on restoring dignity, building self-reliance, and creating income opportunities through hands-on training and counseling.
Training and Activities Conducted:
Tailoring Training – Participants were trained in: 1) Basic hand stitching and machine stitching. 2) Measurement and cutting of fabric. 3) Making simple garments and repairs
Outcome: Trainees gained foundational tailoring skills and produced simple wearable items, building confidence in garment production as a potential source of income.
Hair Dressing Training – The session covered: 1) Basic hair washing and blow-drying techniques. 2) Hair hygiene and customer care. 3) Proper use of hair tools and products.
Outcome: Participants practiced washing and blow-drying hair, and developed skills they can immediately use to earn income within their communities.
Doormat Making – Training included: Selection of materials, weaving, stitching, and presentation methods.
Counseling Session – A group counseling session was conducted, focusing on: 1) Coping with stigma and emotional challenges. 2) Self-esteem and confidence building. 3) Goal setting and life planning. 4) Peer encouragement and sharing experiences
Outcome: The teenage mothers felt heard, encouraged, and emotionally supported, strengthening their resilience and sense of belonging.
Challenges Faced: 1) Limited training materials affected the pace of practice. 2) Some participants needed more time for skill mastery. 3) Need for repair of tailoring machines.
Recommendations: 1) Procure additional tools and materials for practical sessions. 2) Extend training time for deeper practice and skill
Conclusion: April was impactful for the Gifted Hands Project. Teenage mothers gained valuable vocational skills and received emotional support that strengthened their confidence and hope for a better future. The project continues to be a pathway toward self-reliance and dignity restoration.
RUHU MEDICAL DEPARTMENT

Introduction: Humble greetings from the medical department. We are grateful to the Lord for the great things He has enabled us to achieve as a department throughout this period. The medical department, through the Village of Hope Community Clinics, will continue to provide the best and most reliable healthcare services to our patients throughout this year. As a department, this report highlights our continued efforts to provide quality healthcare services to our students/pupils, RUHU staff, and the community.
Health Care Reports From Each Of Our Stations:
The following have been identified and reported for the Village of Hope Community Clinic in Nakuwadde: Patients seen: 4 community, 162 students/pupils, 5 RUHU staff. Throughout April, we registered 3 referral cases for further investigation/specialized care, 2 cases to Lubaga hospital, and the other at Mulago Hospital. The following conditions have been managed: Malaria, Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (Flu/Cough), Diarrheal Diseases, UTIs, Musculoskeletal Pain, Wound care
Activities conducted: 1) Health education sessions on personal hygiene, disease prevention, and health awareness for students and the community during the community survey. 2) Term 1 health screening & pregnancy tests for girls of reproductive age. 3) Had a general cleaning & proper waste management at the station as part of infection prevention and control. 4) Conducted a community survey through our medical coordinator, and it was noted that there is a need for expanded maternal health: antenatal care, maternity services, and ultrasound scans, which were the highest priority as indicated from the survey report.
The following have been identified and reported for the Village of Hope Community Clinic in Lulumbu: Patients seen: 5 community, 105 students/pupils, 3 RUHU Secondary staff. Throughout April, the following cases have been managed: Malaria, Peptic ulcers, Dental concerns including toothaches and cavities, Urinary Tract Infections. There were 2 referrals recommended to further management at Lubaga hospital.
Medical Outreaches Update: The following statistics are for the 4 weeks of the medical outreaches that were conducted from 13th February to 13th March 2026.

Dear Donors, Sponsors, Partners, Friends, Beneficiaries, and Supporters, as we have closed the first quarter of 2026 and entered a new quarter, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering commitment to Raising Up Hope for Uganda. Your sacrificial support has carried us through challenging times and enabled remarkable progress.
PRAISE – We give praise for…
Great joy has filled our community since we received funds for the construction of the girls’ dormitory. Construction is progressing steadily, and we are excited to report that the building is now at 60% completion. This is a huge relief, as girls had been sharing beds two per mattress, a situation that threatened the school’s existence under Ministry of Education standards. Now, hope and safety are restored.
Another milestone is the completion of the vocational hostel, which is now fully being used. This permanently solves the burden of renting hostels and paying landlords, a challenge that has weighed heavily on us. Alongside this, the vocational institute construction is ongoing, promising to expand opportunities for children and youth to gain practical skills for a brighter future.
We are grateful for the Vocational Institute Staff salaries, supplies, and other items that have greatly impacted the smooth running of the Institute and its activities.
We cannot forget your support for staff salaries, food, and other necessities. In these times of rising costs, especially with the increase in fuel prices that has driven up the standard of living and living expenses across Uganda, construction materials, transportation, and other items, your generosity has been a lifeline. Fuel price hikes have affected transport, food costs, and daily operations, but your support has kept us resilient and able to meet the needs of our children and staff.
We thank God for the closure of Term 1 2026 at RUHU Primary and RUHU Secondary Schools. The schools successfully completed Term 1, and the students were able to receive their report cards. The Term was difficult compared to Terms in 2025 because of limited support, but we are thankful for a successful closure.
PRAYER – We ask for prayers for...
With the increase in fuel prices and the rising cost of living across Uganda, families, schools, and communities are struggling to meet daily needs. We pray that God will open doors of abundance, sustain RUHU’s operations, and provide for staff, children, and beneficiaries.
We seek God’s favor for RUHU’s mission and goals to be achieved. We pray for the programs to be impactful and to bring about lasting change. We pray and seek God’s provision for the RUHU’s financial needs in 2026. We pray for wisdom and unity for the team and leadership. We pray for resilience, perseverance, and strength to overcome challenges and continue working towards RUHU’s vision. We pray for protection and seek divine protection for all involved in RUHU. We pray for divine wisdom and guidance and ask for God’s guidance on decisions and direction.
We pray that God continues to provide our monthly salaries and monthly operations throughout 2026. And that we overcome the challenging issues we have in schools due to budget cuts.
We pray that peace prevails in the world, give good guidance to all our leaders in the world, and also stop the Iran conflict. We thank and bless GOD.
