RUHU VOCATIONAL DEPARTMENT – GIFTED HANDS PROJECT
from RUHU Gifted Hands Project Lead Lydia
“The Gifted Hands Project, under RUHU, is dedicated to empowering young women from underprivileged communities—including teenage mothers and school dropouts—with a focus on supporting the young mothers at RUHU’s House of Hope by equipping them with hands-on vocational skills. The program focuses on creating sustainable livelihoods and building self-reliance among participants.
This report provides an update on activities and progress made during the month of September.
Participation: During the month, the project enrolled and actively engaged five (5) trainees. These young women consistently attended sessions and participated in various skill-building activities.
Skills Training Conducted: The training sessions focused on practical, income-generating skills that can be directly applied in small businesses and local markets. The areas covered in September included:
-Tailoring – introduction to garment construction, stitching techniques, and clothing repairs.
-Jewelry Crafts Making – designing and creating handmade jewelry items using locally available materials.
-Petroleum Skin Jelly Making – formulation and packaging of affordable skincare jelly for household and commercial use.
-Hand Soap Making – preparation of liquid hand wash, an essential hygiene product for both personal and commercial purposes.
-Soap Making – practical training in producing bar soap for domestic use and small-scale sales.
Progress and Achievements:
-All five trainees actively participated and showed growing confidence in their practical work.
-The group successfully produced sample products in skin jelly, soap, and hand wash during the training sessions.
-The trainees began to develop entrepreneurial mindsets, discussing how the skills learned could be turned into income-generating activities.
-A strong sense of peer support and teamwork was observed among the participants, which is vital for their personal growth and future collaborations.
Next Steps:
-Continue with advanced training in tailoring and crafts-making to strengthen proficiency.
-Some trainees like Sharon have already completed their tailoring training and only need to be supported to start working.”

RUHU PRAISE & PRAYER HIGHLIGHTS
from RUHU Executive Director William
PRAISE – We give praise for…
“Donors, Sponsors, Partners, Friends, and Supporters, we extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering commitment to our mission. We express gratitude for the chance to serve through RUHU and for the impact it makes in the community. Every opportunity to serve is a privilege given by God.
We thank God for the positive results and positive change. Celebrating these successes motivates everyone involved to continue striving for excellence.
We thank God for the internal controls of administration that have been introduced by the Executive Director of Beautiful Response; these have, by all means, improved the organization.
We express gratitude to the dedicated individuals who work with us. We thank God for the dedicated staff, who have managed to improve service delivery in the organization.
We want to thank our donors and supporters for sacrificing to see that the children were able to attend the third term at all RUHU schools. This term all purchases were made even earlier than other terms. I thank you so much on behalf of the children. All kids reported to school with all their requirements.
The vocational department has made greater progress throughout the term, the third shelter has been completed, hostels for learners have been received, human resource has been hired, and curriculums have started being provided, etc.
We also can’t forget your support and provisions for the staff salaries and food. All the staff have sent messages of appreciation for the staff salaries. Take the example of Isaac, the bursar of RUHU Primary. He has said Good afternoon, director, I reach out to extend my sincere salary appreciation to you and Beautiful Response, may the almighty God bless you abundantly.
In addition to this we thank God for the funds provided to run the RUHU programs.
As if not enough, the finishing phase of the construction of the boys’ dormitory can’t be passed by. It’s a great eye-catching project that has made everyone excited, including the students themselves. The floor has been cemented, the ground floor has been plastered, and the compound has been poured and leveled. It’s a great achievement for the organization and RUHU Secondary at large.”
PRAYER – We ask for prayers for…
“We seek God’s favor for RUHU’s mission and goals to be achieved.
We pray for the programs to be impactful and to bring about lasting change. Effective programs are the backbone of RUHU, and asking for divine intervention ensures these programs meet the needs of the beneficiaries.
We pray and seek God’s provision for the RUHU’s financial needs.
We pray for wisdom and unity for the team and leadership. A strong and united team can overcome any challenge.
We pray for resilience and perseverance, and strength to overcome challenges and continue working towards RUHU’s vision. The journey of RUHU is fraught with obstacles, and resilience and perseverance are necessary to keep moving forward.
We pray for protection and seek divine protection for all involved in RUHU.
We pray for divine wisdom and guidance and ask for God’s guidance on decisions and direction.
We continue praying that God provides funds for the start of the vocational institute to enable senior six vacists to have a chance to acquire skills for businesses. Many of our kids who have sat senior six are still home without hope of going to university or institute.
Our prayers also go towards the volunteers who are travelling to come to Uganda for the medical outreaches in October. May God provide them with journey mercies.”
