RUHU VOCATIONAL DEPARTMENT

“So far, we have three major courses that we are concentrating on. These include: Welding and Metal Fabrication, Fashion and Design, and Cosmetology.
We are so grateful for the training space we have so far. We were also able to be given space for the Vocational office and storage for the training materials.
We were able to host Auntie Laura and Alyssa at the Vocational Training Center. In the process, we had a meeting with the whole training team. In the meeting, we discussed the way forward for the department, the training space, the training courses, and the September intake. In Auntie Laura’s speech, she encouraged the training team to work on the mindset change of the students, to train them to become self-reliant, and make sure they are prepared to go into the workforce to get jobs rather than waiting for Beautiful Response to give them funds to start a business. This was an encouraging speech.
We were able to exhibit the work done by the children, especially the fashion class. Auntie Laura and Alyssa’s visit has been a blessing to us as they supported our projects by buying the products and funding the programs. We are so grateful. We were able to raise some funds, and we are to use these funds to buy more materials to make more items.
Achievements
– We were able to get office space where we can perform the office duties and welcome the trainers and visitors.
– We were able to get a new trainer in the Cosmetology class.
– We have managed to train students in the welding class and now we are looking forward to taking them through the entrepreneurship trainings.
– We have managed to collect some funds through the jobs we got outside and within RUHU, especially in the welding class. This has also crossed over to the fashion class, as we were given the opportunity to make uniforms for the secondary and primary schools.
Challenges
– The vocational training space is still challenging us as we are still completing the additional spaces.
– Training materials are still scarce due to the limited funds we have in the department.
– Machines to use in the training process are not enough to enable the steady process of training. Some of these include sewing machines like Overlock and Babylock machines in the fashion class, grinding machines and safety boots in the welding class, and soap cutters and mixing machines in the cosmetology class.
Resolutions
– We have already started on the process of constructing other structures for the Cosmetology class. We therefore have hope that by the beginning of next term this will be a success.
– We are expecting to get more jobs both within and outside RUHU. This will help us collect some funds that we can use to buy more materials for projects.
– We are organizing a September intake that will see more students enrolling in the programs.”

“ACHIEVEMENTS
N.H.C.C. Lulumbu
1. Baptism; We were privileged as the Lulumbu branch to have church members from neighboring churches in our sub-county hold their baptism ceremonies at our Cathedral and baptism pool. This has strengthened the churches’ relationship.
2. Resurrection Sunday; We are so grateful to the Lord for the blessing of his son Jesus Christ, and we celebrated the remembrance of his resurrection with a powerful worship service. This was topped up with a nice lunch prepared by the Church Board, and we bless the Lord for all that.
3. Generous tithe; RUHU Secondary School blessed us with its tithe and we thank the administration for prioritizing and fulfilling church principles. May the Lord bless the school abundantly.
N.H.C.C. Kikonge
1. New Converts; We are grateful to the Lord for the blessing of five new converts to our church community. We thank the Lord who has blessed us with fruit in our ministerial labour.
2. Prayer and Fasting; We held a 3-day prayer and fasting programme towards resurrection Sunday to seek God concerning our financial status and asking him to guide, bless, and give life to that aspect of our life.
3. Home cells; We opened up different home cells in various places for fellowship and empowerment during weekdays. This has been a successful endeavor and we’ve seen God move in such meetings.
N.H.C.C. Nankuwadde
1. Smooth church programs; We are grateful to God who has enabled us to have our worship services, door-to-door preaching, and other programs with ease.
2. Fundraising; The Lord has enabled us to fundraise one million shillings in pledges and cash so far for the tent in which we will be having our worship services. Money needed for the tent is three million and five hundred thousand shillings. We thank the Lord that the journey is going on well.
3. Resurrection Sunday; We were privileged to have our dear visitors Laura and Alyssa celebrate Resurrection Sunday with us. And sharing lunch together with them and the church.”

“We seek God’s favor for RUHU’s mission and goals to be achieved. A clear and focused mission aligns RUHU’s efforts with its vision, and divine favor propels these efforts toward success.
We pray for the programs to be impactful and to bring about lasting change. Effective programs are the backbone of RUHU, and asking for divine intervention ensures these programs meet the needs of the beneficiaries.
We pray and seek God’s provision for the RUHU’s financial needs.
We pray for wisdom and unity for the team and leadership. A strong and united team can overcome any challenge, and divine wisdom helps in making the right decisions at the right time.
We pray for resilience and perseverance and strength to overcome challenges and continue working towards RUHU’s vision. The journey of RUHU is fraught with obstacles, and resilience and perseverance are necessary to keep moving forward.
