RUHU MEDICAL DEPARTMENT

RUHU Primary School clinic
* The clinic has greatly grown to now serve the RUHU Primary school, both boys’ and girls’ homes, House of Hope, RUHU staff, and the community at large.
A number of activities transpired in February. These included:
1. Medical sensitization: The children were educated about Monkey pox, hygiene, Peptic Ulcer Diseases, and Urinary Tract Infections.
2. Medical checkups: 63 school-going children were checked for HIV, PUD, typhoid, pregnancy, and UTIs. The children were also dewormed and given vitamin boosters.
3. Procurement of drugs: Drugs and other medical supplies were purchased to help in the daily running of the clinic.
* Medical Treatment:
1. A total of 215 patients came to the clinic for treatment. Of these, 118 were male and 97 female. The total number of staff who received treatment was 15. 5 patients were referred to Lubaga Hospital due to complicated conditions or for further management.
2. The number of different conditions seen was 18, with the top 5 being upper respiratory tract infections, headaches, wounds, abdominal discomfort, and malaria.

I humbly take this opportunity to thank RUHU Director, Board, and Beautiful Response for the great efforts and support that they always render to the beneficiaries (children) as far as their education and well-being is concerned.
Achievements:
Amid some challenges in this month, we were able to operate our programs with the help and support, and as a result, we were able to achieve the following achievements in this month.
– Repairs: Welding of broken suitcases, sewing of school uniforms, and mending of school shoes were done successfully.
– Distributing both boarding and class requirements to all students.
– Taking back students to their respective schools, that is RUHU Secondary and Vocational and RUHU Primary school.
– Students’ meeting was held successfully before children reported back to their respective schools. Discipline, academics, and love of God were emphasized. This was done through teamwork between the Education, Social Work, and Welfare departments.
– Pocket/ upkeep money was given to all students.
– Guidance and counseling were done where the primary pupils were given some counseling on their personal hygiene, smartness, and not forgetting discipline and academics.
– The Primary 7 pupils successfully reported and joined the boarding section at RUHU Primary school.
– Delivery of the requirements (class and boarding).
Conclusion:
I once again on behalf of the department, humbly take this opportunity to thank Beautiful Response, RUHU Board, and the CEO of RUHU, for the support always given to the department in uplifting the children academically as they get prepared to meet the world and become responsible citizens of their communities.“
