RUHU SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT – SLUM OUTREACH

“We concluded the year with a massive slum Christmas party which was held in Bwaise at Blend Gardens where almost 700 children were present from different communities such as Bwaise, Kisenyi, Kikajjo, Katwe, Kikaramoja, Mbuya, and Bamuda. The party had activities of singing, dancing, face painting, cake eating, Santa gift giving to the children, a football tournament, giving out clothes and shoes, sharing breakfast and lunch, medical care treatment, and a skilling session where the RUHU children taught the children from other communities how to make bangles and others. We are so happy for the opportunity given to these children to celebrate Christmas with love and cheer like other children around the world.”
RUHU FARM EXPANSION PROJECT

“Progress and achievements in December:
– The production unit for sweet peppers is complete.
– The water well is complete. We are just waiting for the pumping of water to the main tank.
– The propagation unit is complete.
– Maize is at 4ft and at this level, we are weeding and spraying the plants.
– The open irrigation and greenhouse irrigation systems are both complete and ready for use.- The open irrigation system will allow a variety of vegetables to grow in the approaching dry season from January through March.
– The IMO piggery unit system is in its final stages of completion and in the coming weeks it will be finished.”
