On June 28, Sonja and I welcomed Charlie into the world. In the afterglow of new life, my perspective always expands. Charlie’s little hands and his vulnerable cry outline the preciousness of life. On the one hand, adding a new life to our household brings challenges. There’s less time for Beautiful Response. Trips back to Uganda become more complicated (although Sonja is hoping to go in January!). And with a more crowded plate, we might check out completely.
But the flip side is that the work in Uganda feels more important than ever. Having a baby is like twisting the focus on a camera. A full life of ambiguous outlines, muddled together suddenly begins to clarify. A newborn slows life down and causes the important things to rise to the top. And this work in Uganda of giving dignity, education, and hope to vulnerable children always rises to the top.
Fortunately, this work has never been limited to our capacity. It’s always been God’s work. It’s always been RUHU’s dream and RUHU’s execution. And Laura, Beautiful Response’s Executive Director, is doing an incredible job of growing both BR and RUHU.
So, I’d like to invite you to join us in this work. If you’ve never supported Beautiful Response monthly, would you consider monthly support? If you’re supporting us monthly, would you consider increasing that monthly gift? If you’re able to help us meet our major goal for July ($100,000) would you consider radically helping us meet that need?
With you in this ever-important work,
Caleb and Sonja
