You don’t need convincing that it is a good and worthwhile endeavor to throw Christmas parties for orphaned and vulnerable kids. And I have no doubt that if you were in Uganda, sweat beading on your forehead, red dirt across your arms, and William needed someone to foot $250 to provide a hot meal for the kids in Kisenyi, you’d reach into your pockets.
So let me shrink the gap from wherever you are sitting reading this email to the place where the RUHU kids are getting ready to receive their Christmas gift of new clothes. Stand with me at the entrance of the amusement park and watch the laughter and smiles as the RUHU kids get to ride on a ferris wheel for the first time. Hear the gratitude in the laughter of the RUHU staff as they celebrate one another’s achievements at their staff Christmas dinner.
All of this happens because people like you are happy to chip in.
This Giving Tuesday, we are raising the funds needed to help the extended RUHU family celebrate Christmas properly. The various parties, outings, and staff celebrations are outlined below. There are a lot of (wonderful) expenses this time of year. That’s as true for the RUHU family as it is for your own family, I’m sure. If you or I were in Uganda with the kids, we wouldn’t hesitate to help cover the cost of a few meals, a few Christmas gifts, or the beach entry fee. Well, you may not be there, but your generosity can still accomplish the same thing.
