Celebrations and Gratitude to Close Out 2025 – RUHU January 2026 Newsletter

Your Generosity Makes a Difference!

You’re creating a brighter future for the most vulnerable in Uganda. Here’s a snapshot of the impact you’ve made, directly from RUHU staff!

RUHU MUWALA MULUNGI PROGRAM

from RUHU Muwala Mulungi Supervisor Lydia

Christmas outreach

We conducted a Christmas outreach in the Kibuku district, skilling over 150 youth and women, and we were able to give out food items to the vulnerable, reaching out to 100 households.

We not only gave out food items, including soap, sugar, and rice, but also gave the community tools to start their own liquid soap-making project as an income-generating project in that community. We were able to follow up after our outreach and discovered they had started their soap-making project using the tools we provided for them.

The theme of the Christmas outreach was to share the purpose of Christmas with those in need, including women, children, youth, and the elderly. We are grateful for the support given towards this activity.

RUHU SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT

Slum Christmas party

This happened on the 18th of December at Blend Gardens in Bwaise, where we had children from various slum communities, such as Bwaise, Kisenyi, Katwe, Karamoja, among others. Here, the children engaged in a number of fun activities like bathing and brushing teeth for street children, dancing, singing, liquid soap making, hair cutting, games, cake cutting, food, and gift sharing. Thank you to our beloved sponsors for putting a smile on the faces of the slum children as they celebrated the birth of Christ.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all the RUHU staff who made it possible to collect an additional 1.5 million UGX. This was used to buy food items for the young mothers and children from the Karamoja and Mbuya communities, like sugar, rice, salt, cooking oil, and soap. Thank you for your generosity. May the good Lord bless you always.

RUHU CAREER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT

from RUHU Career Relations Officer Viola

Christmas celebration

We have been blessed this Christmas season, too, that all students were celebrated in a special way. All our students, including the Vocational students, were taken for an end-of-year gathering, where they had fun swimming, enjoyed a special meal together, spent time with each other, received career guidance sessions, played games, and received Christmas packages.

In a special way, we appreciate the sponsors for the provision of funds. With these funds, we were able to have Christmas packages for every student, and this was truly great for their festive season. The day was full of fun, and we thank the Lord.

Graduation ceremony

This month, we celebrated our own Lukwago Yuriyo, who graduated on the 9th of December with a Diploma in Interior Design from Kyambogo University.

This was a great milestone for both the organisation and for Yuriyo. Yuriyo spent his day well, with guardians attending his graduation, and being taken out after where he had fun with a special lunch.

Yuriyo is grateful to the Lord and to the entire RUHU family (sponsors, RUHU management, and all RUHU caretakers) for how far they brought him up to his completion of studies.

RUHU PRAISE & PRAYER HIGHLIGHTS

from RUHU Executive Director William

Dear Donors, Sponsors, Partners, Friends, Beneficiaries, and Supporters, we extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering commitment to our mission.

PRAISE – We give praise for…

As we came to the end of the month, we managed to organize the biggest slum party in Uganda. Given your support, we managed to provide a special meal and drinks, clothing and shoes, music, dance, and drama. It was a special annual outing for over 850 slum children. This time it was massive, and we thank God for your generous support.

All our children in the RUHU homes, University and Institute students, and graduates were able to have a special dinner and meal together and receive Christmas gifts. This is all attributed to your unconditional support. Because you love us, our stories have really changed.

More to praise was the powerful, eye-catching staff dinner. All this managed to happen because of your support. Over 90 staff met in one place with an aim of sharing Christmas together. Staff were given gifts, had a meal together, and were all paid their salaries. What a great way to end the year with a staff theme of moving into the future together.

We thank God for all your support and donations, for the holiday programs and the slum Christmas party. We are grateful.

PRAYER – We ask for prayers for…

We seek God’s favor for RUHU’s mission and goals to be achieved. We pray for the programs to be impactful and to bring about lasting change. We pray and seek God’s provision for the RUHU’s financial needs in 2026. We pray for wisdom and unity for the team and leadership. We pray for resilience, perseverance, and strength to overcome challenges and continue working towards RUHU’s vision. We pray for divine wisdom and guidance and ask for God’s guidance on decisions and direction.

We pray that God provides funds for the running of the RUHU Vocational Institute this year, because it has been very challenging running the Institute for the first quarter.

We are also praying that God provides funds for the girls’ dormitory at RUHU Secondary, as it now remains as the final point of limited space where most of the girls have to sleep 2 on a single bed.

We pray for the fundraising campaigns to be successful with Beautiful Response and other fundraising events. We pray that more funds are donated so that we can meet the goal of 2026 Term 1 school fees for all the kids.
